you might need to change the loom as while the bcm might have the feature the loom might not have the extra wires

the loom came from a vehicle with variable wipers , but it was a sedan , don't know if wagon is different from sedan , now the indicators don't flash when i lock and unlock it , only stopped after all the rain, still locks as normal

Hello Pappa,
I have done a similiar thing to Jason I have a series 1.5 ute and I have installed an au 2 ghia dashboard complete with the heater box etc. all the things appear to be working on the dash but some people hve indicated I needed to change the engine bay wiring to the series 2 to natch I have found all the looms I need (series 2 (high) dedicated gas looms etc plus all the cabin wiring all matched bem, keys and ecu what are your thoughts about this as I really dont want to pull it apart again but if I have to I will I guess I am just a bit lost about this I have all the wiring diagrams as well but the colour codes for the varoius connectors between manuals is also different so I dont know ....... Thanks Steve

Hi guys, I need some advice here. I have fitted a '99 model XR8 (S1.5) engine and trans, and ECU, to my '02 Futura (S3) wagon. The Smartshield wont let it start, so I'm thinking I'll try the S1.5 BEM and ignition barrel & key in the S3 wagon.

My issue is the different BEM's. Can I use the S1.5 BEM (Yellow) in place of the S3 BEM (Pink), and will everything in the S3 wagon work as it should?

Or can I have something done to either the ECU or BEM to make them happy again? And if so, who can do it?

Cheers,
8-)

OK, quick update - this might help someone else too.

I tried the S1.5 (yellow) BEM, ECU and keyset from the XR8 Ute in the S3 Futura Wagon, but no joy. So I managed to source a ECU, BEM (pink) and keyset from a S2 XR8 Ute. This worked fine, and everything in the wagon works as it should, including rear wipers, etc. So the Pink BEM is the same, regardless of body style, etc.

Hope this helps someone.
