Hi,
Some time ago I installed a LED strip in the boot of my Ford AUII. Works brilliantly.

However, this afternoon I had to access my spare tyre due to a puncture on the road.

I don't know what I had done to the LED strip, it no longer works. I was in rush to get my tools , my hand did touch the strip but don't know if I had accidentally severed power to the strip.

Are these LED strips repairable? Or does on need to replace and rewire again?

Thanks

Hello,

Check for any damage, you may be able to solder it. Have a look from where you connected it, and make sure you have power at the light. Once you are certain that it is faulty, take it out and see if you can get apart. If it is the cable going to it, solder and heatshrink.

Hello 96ELGli,

Thanks for your reply,

I did run a multimeter on the LED strip, no power. There is power going through the previous wires. Unfortunately the strip became a bit brittle and snapped where the joiners were. Unfortunately it was too brittle to repair.

Ordered another 5 metres of LED strip, Back to square one again.

Cheers

Hello,

Have a look at these, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/High-Power-4 ... Sw7FRWaT-w This is an example of what you can get. Adhesive mount and adapters to fit the normal light to power them. 1 or 2 under the boot lid, bingo ! I have used them for years, I put one in my Car interior light, almost needed welding goggles because it was so bright. If you think it would be good under the bonnet, be careful how you switch it. You would need a sealed switch such as a Reed or Mercury. If not ingress of water will cause your battery to run down.

They are available in colours, and different white colours like Flouro's are. Test before fitting, I had one with the wire colours reversed. For the price, they are worth a try.

Hello,

Thanks for that info and link, I'll get some too.

I've found the led strip I had put away, soldered new wires, good to go again. Always good to have a back up though.

Definitely would be good for under bonnet too.

Cheers
