I'm not 100% sure it will work, but a Transmission Control Module from an EA Series 2 or EB Series 1 might be what you're after. Too bad you aren't using a C4 which has more options for mods and has a better first gear ratio.

The short answer is Yes it can be done.

The Long answer, is you will need a factory ea or eb 4spd trans controller, wiring, the speed sender for the gearbox, a TPS switch (early car's ran two tps, one for the engine and one for the auto controller) fit to your throttle shaft on the carby, and possibly a coolant temp sender too. Maybe another sensor or two that I can't think of right now.

Best way to work out exactly what sensors you will need, will be to have a look at a EA or EB series 1 4speed auto car's wiring diagrams. Trace out just the stuff that goes back to the trans control unit, that will give you some ideas.

I've been toying with the idea of a borg warner 4spd behind a dodge 318 in my old truck, and maybe even one behind a clevo in a old ute for my mum. I know I've seen one behind a clevo in a xe a few years ago, so it can be done.

Cheers

yes it can be run standalone and full manual with a controller from www.shiftkits.com.au
also can use a programmable auto controller if you mount a TPS to the carb, and also have RPM and VSS signals available
