Hello again,

I am hopeful someone might provide me with a solution in fixing a minor problem.

2 days ago I had to use the Demister (Rearwindow) switch, the button pressed down ok and light shown + demister light shows up in dashboard. (Ford AUII)

Whilst driving home, the light in the demister button failed to light up. however, the demister symbol in the dashboard remained lit until I depressed the demister switch to off.

I'd like to have this switch working properly. Is this switch easy to remove i.e. to replace a burned bulb or is it a bit difficult?

The switch is located on the facia holding aircon switch, radio and aircon control knobs.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

I did have one here when I was fiddling with my AU install... Pretty sure there was just a twist in globe in the buttons? Pop the AU centre fascia out and have a look see... Easiest way to find out...

Cheers,
Tim

@ TimmyA

Thanks for the quick reply.

Is the Facia Panel easy to come off or is is tricky i.e. something I need to be weary or careful of?

Thanks
Peter

Ah yeah can't help you there... When I bought my AU bits it was separate from the dash already and I didn't look to see how it mounted...

Cheers,
Tim

Should have a twist in type globe on the top of the switch.
You can remove the switch panel (I'm assuming it's a base spec dash) by gently prying it off from the passenger side of the panel with a small flat blade screwdriver.

@ Esteven8

Thanks.

I have not attempted to remove mine as yet but was looking at a spare I had from the wreckers.

I was not sure if there was / is a bolt of screw holding the console insitu prior to prying off from the passenger side.

Would Jaycar electronics have these globes or do I have to buy these from Ford directly?

I have no idea what wattage these are but would be 12v I assume.

May as well replace it with an LED...

I'm pretty sure it's one of these type globes:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1-x-Neo-Wedg ... 19d67197fe

Not sure which size but... I have fitted these to the heater controls in my ED and have never had one fail... Can't remember which size they are either now...

Jaycar doesn't sell these and Ford probably do but I'd stick an LED in it if it were me...

Cheers,
Tim

TimmyA,

Thanks for your help. I think LED might be the go.

Does one need to have resistors for these to work or just plug in?

Cheers

Not blown is it troy?

The ghia dash is different from the base model isn't it? Different demister button because of the message centre?

Cheers,
Tim
