In need of help with my ford fairmont ghia 2004 model. It is dual air con and when the air con is on it blows cold air one side and the other side hot air and sometimes barely any air. It the a wasp itself around. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas on why this would be? Thank you

is this deffinately dual zone ?
check inlet is clear of leaves etc.- if gas is low normally will be cold on left hot on right not changing around.- possible air mix shaft has become disconnected or shaft has broken but this is more common in single zone system.-fault in actuator or shaft on drivers side normally only effects driver side air. HIM module may have failed but would advise to have system scanned by ford first for codes and to run a self test -check for programming update etc.and cost to repair if any of the above the console and dash assembly need to come out to repair and need to reprogram HIM if new or if second hand must be same ie.dual zone and then have system test run to resynchronise..... attachment may be of some assistance. Check for leak obviously, more likely to be pressure equalising in system after you have run ac and turned off.
Check temp of pipes ,left back under bonnet, large pipe should be fairly cold within 5 minutes of turning ac on SMALL pipe gets HOT . If so would indicate gas not causing problem, comes back to him or shaft etc. Get it scanned after checking white gear has not backed out of HIM and you can hear HIM change positions ? TedW |
