I've been trying to get cruise control functioning in my ED.
Have all components and wires installed (in correct places I hope) except for the power wire. Workshop Manuals say to connect power wire (Orange wire on cruise loom) to blue wire for steering wheel. I'm not sure what wire they are referring too. Can someone please tell me the correct wire on the steering column loom? Thanks, Steve.

The O/Y wire (Orange/Yellow wire) is the one I'm getting confused about.
It's says connect to blue wire for on of switch on steering wheel. I can't see the wire they are talking about. Behind the horn pad is a blue wire for on/off switch but can't connect to that as you wouldn't be able to turn the steering wheel then. It's a wire on the steering column loom. There is a blue wire there but that didn't work. Was told I need the wire for REDS but not sure what wire that is??

Yea I have.
I have three other manuals that are close to the same as well. I've connected all other wire except that one. Section on left confuses me. I'm new to wiring diagrams and don't understand where it's telling me to connect the O/Y wire. I know the wires coming out of the switches for on/off and set/CST, but where the blue wire on diagram says connect to O/Y I'm lost.

have you fitted/checked all the wiring thru the column? i'm presuming the wiring color changes at the column plug?

I'm assuming that all wiring in the column is already there.
Yellow wire for the brass piece and spring, that contacts with back of steering wheel (wire runs through indicator/wiper stalk) was already there and I have mid series cluster. So I'm guessing I don't have to add any wires to column loom?

Ok, so O/Y wire (for cruise power) would be connected to the R/GRN wire that connects to the stop lamp fuse?

NO the GRN/R wire IS supplying pwr to the cruise. the O/Y is to tell the cruise to turn on/off or set/res/cst - ie the O/Y tells the cruise unit what you want it to do. now i am only going by the pic as i havn't yet pulled out the cruise from the EB2 manual with cruise and fitted it to the EB1 without cruise, so someone WILL correct me IF i am wrong |

It was suggested that I connect that O/Y wire to the wire for REDS.
So I'm assuming that there is a wire for ACC, wire for REDS, then wire for START on ignition switch? If so any idea which wire is for REDS?

Ok. Well I'm still stumped on which wire to connect it too then.
I'll keep searching, thanks for your help.

Factory wiring removed from a body loom.
Also have a complete body loom and compaired wires to make sure all was there. I had the O/Y wire connected to one wire on column loom, the cruise light would stay on and if I pressed and held the on switch it would turn off. Moved wire to yellow wire on column and now the cruise light lights up while the engine is cranking only then turns off when car is started. I know that the O/Y wire is for power for the cruise unit and that the on/off switch cuts power to that wire.
