Hi

Was just wondering what causes a ef fairmont to sometimes cut in and out at the very odd time?

When it does It the abs check light comes on sometimes radio goes out then it comes good and doesn't do it for probably a month then it'll do it once.

The battery gauge is still reading about 14v when engine running when it cuts in and out

Also sometimes when turnin key off to take out sometimes radio goes out when keys on acc then turn to ign and back to acc it's good and once the dash lights came on in accs

The key feels loose would just the barrel be worn or ign housing itself

What would be cause of it all ign housing/switch, smartlock box, relays ????

When changing smartlock box or ign housing or both what do you have to do to train the smartlock to learn the codes again?

Smartlock is build into the BCM. If changing either ignition housing or the BCM or both, you will need to do a learn procedure. If changing only the Ignition barrel, you will not need to do this procedure.

Open Drivers side window.

Turn off all accesories, ie Radio, AC etc.

Close all doors.

Turn the key to reds and wait approx 1hr.

Door locks will cycle twice if successful.

Turn key off and start car. Turn off car and start again. If the car starts all is good. Check this as the bypass to a problem BCM is the same as above but you only get 1 start per procedure.

If the program is successful, you will need to reprogram your remote pads.

What would explain the odd cutting in and out that might only happen once a monh
