i turn the key to the on position and nothing, the radio wont even power up, i checked all of the fuses under the dash and they are fine i have checked and replaced all fusses under the bonnet and they are fine i even replaced the main 100A fuse, i cleaned the negative to body earth connections and they were fine i even replaced the battery terminals, i checked the fuses under the bonnet with a multi meter and they are getting good power but for some reason its not going from there to the dash!
so far i have done; all fuses checked -Fine body earth cleaned/checked - fine checked for power going to fuses under the bonnet - fine replaced battery terminals -fine turn key and nothing, no radio no nothing! but it was running fine a week ago! i was going to do some more work to it and then have it shipped off somewhere to have even more work done to it (project car) but now this pops up!

have you checked out the back of said ignition switch for power etc?. have you also checked the engine bay fuse boards for power with a multimeter? & last have you checked the fusible links at the battery connection?. hmmm just reread & yes you have. have you checked the interior fuse connections for power?.
have you disconnected the column looms at any stage?. what was the work you were doing to involve?. have you left something disconnected?. |

ok after testing some of the fuses related to the dash, i can get power to the fuses that dont need the key to be switched on so it's either a bad switch or a bad accessory relay!

Are you sure it's not Smart Lock? im not sure if smart lock stops the reds from coming on? i think it only stops the injectors from firirng doesnt it? in any case i tried the whole "smack the panel next to your left knee" trick a few times - on both the steering column and radio side panels "next to you left knee" and nope, i've got an auto electrician booked (or at least im on a very long waiting list) so we'll see.

turns out the ignition switch was worn out, the key barrel was fine it was just all the electrical parts fitted to it that were worn out.
