Hey all, i cant for the life of me work out why my reverse lights arnt working, they havnt been since my manual conversion but were working fine before that, now i know in the square plug with the 4 wires is the starter wires and reverse lights, the car has been running for weeks now, so i have the starter wires set up correctly, but the reverse lights dont work, figured it was the switch, so replaced the switch and still nothing.. my reverse lights were working fine before the conversion, but now are not.. i have checked fuses etc, all is good.. so i dont know.. the two wires i have for the reverse switch MUST be correct because ive been driving/starting the car no worries, so i dont know.. just looking for abit of advice if anyone has had this issue before.. thanks everyone,

Did you plug the wires on to the neutral switch by accident?
Reverse switch is towards the back of the box, neutral switch to the front up top.

Checked globes aren't blown?

Ive replaced the bulbs with new ones 3 times.. so i dont think so..

And i thought that but ive been driving the car for 5 weeks? If i had them the wrong way the car wouldnt turn over? And i know the reverse switch is the lower one.. as i replaced it.. expensive pr*ck it is..

Ive had the key "on" the reds, while trying to get it to work, ive had it in gear and under the car swaping them 4 wires around (ive just got female spade terminals on them) and no luck, not even a single flash of the lights... ive tried with the switch out of the box and the wires on it, and pressing on the switch myself, still nothing, thought the new switch was faulty, took it back to my supplier and he tested it infront of me with a little battery and a buzzer and pressed the switch - buzzer went off, so the switch works fine.. reverse lamp fuse in fuse panel is fine, the reverse lights were working before the conversion.. so i dunno..

Try bridging the wires manually to see if you can get the lights to turn on. Then follow the wire for a problem I guess.

What colour are the wires you're using?

I tried using a test light to locate power but there seems to be none.. im not the best with the electrical side but i do my best,

Wires im using are pink/black & red/black. - for the reverse switch,

The other two that are on the neutral switch are black/green & red/blue.

These are the four wire colours that were in my square 4 wire plug.

I must have the neutral switch correct because like i said, the car turns over. And if i put it in gear it wont. Has to be in neutral..

It's only a simple circuit, so there's only so much that can go wrong.

Take it back to basics. Test fuses even if they look ok. Find power. Triple check wiring.

The EL factory manual shows R-DB/BK-DG for start inhibitor, and shows R-BK/R-BK for reverse switch.
I don't remember if the colour were the same or different on the actual car.

Okay, so key "on" there should be constant power on one of the two reverse switch wires? Ill check it again shortly, ill replace the fuse just incase and check for power at the fuse block.

Ive got power both sides of the fuse, so im gonna crawl back under and double check for power at the switch wires, may even check up abit further up from the spade terminals..

Broken Wire?

Run a live wire to the switch and see if everything works then.
