leads is your next bet I think... how about the distributor cap? might be corroded underneath.
besides I wouldn't know if you already changed the coil and TFI. phong =P~

checked the cap and tried a different lead from the coil but still no spark ,don't know if the hall effect sensor has anything to do with this problem or even the ecu its self .

Hi There Sometimes if the TFI goes faulty, the hall effect sensor can follow. I had this problem on a ZL Fairlane. Diagnosed with a faulty TFI by the NRMA. Replaced the TFI - nothing Replaced Hall Effect Unit - started first go. Not saying this is your problem though - just a possibility. Anyway, Good Luck |

if you read his first post, he has already repalced the coil, i would be going hall effect sensor, and replacing the leads at the same time

Dead coil. test the coil, not the power to it

Thanks for all your inputs after reading up a bit I'm going to change the hall effect sensor as it gives the signal to make the coil fire and of course one of the replies says they had the same problem . Will let you know what happens.

I read you're going to change it and just wanted to add this, different car same problem. Laser Ghia, changed it all as you've done, last resort HE sensor, fired first go.
Now it's the first thing I check, barring any obvious faults. Paul

I bought the TFI module for $50 from Bursons auto parts and the guy offered me the whole disributor complete it was new or recon. not sure but for $110 but had everything new eg. HE sensor rotor arm cap and TFI module , but I declined being sure it was the TFI module but now the best deal I can get is $76 for the he sensor and I'll end up getting new rotor arm and cap , so if any one else ends up with the same problem do consider the whole distributor, take one out bolt the new one in.

Changed the HE sensor and works like a dream thank goodness , ended up at a cost of $160 for all the stuff changed so good result really, ended up getting another dizzy from the breakers yard as the rotor in mine looked like it was brushing the face of the HE sensor which probably caused the problem to start with then I put all the new stuff on the new dizzy.
Thanks again for the replies very helpful. |

My dear friends,
after all this years from 2007 i might have to go through all above according to your instruction. Just one question seems so easy to you guys: When you change the dizzy do you always take off all the inlet bits? It seams no way out if dont do that. cheers |
