Hi, i have a 52mm tach ready to go in to my Ford Futura BA, i cant find a straight answer anywhere what i need to know is where the signal wire is for the original tach, i am putting this tach in due to rebuilding my motor and the original tach will not cut it anymore.

BA tach is run off the can bus, so no tach wire as such.
You will need a tach adaptor that converts the 36-1 signal to a valid tach signal

Just a quick one: why would a P plater be putting so much work into their engine that it's going to be shooting past 7000rpm? Unless it's a 4-year-project car, in which case the money might be better spent on a better starting platform.

Hence why I asked haha, I wouldn't imagine anything that would put out those sorts of numbers would be on the street, at least not for long.

Unfortunately I have little to no hands on experiences with BA onwards, I searched for it more out of curiosity. Maybe that shift-i whatever thing has one of those adapters built in.

Maybe it does, i will just hook up everything but the signal wire for now and wait and see other wasy that it can be done, or get a 36-1 converter, would like a bit more information on it if anyone could help, of how the 36-1 converter works and how to install.

hey mate the 36-1 converters that I have read off the factory VR sensor and output a 12v square wave that you feed to the tacho. Installation is fairly straight forward, just need to supply power and ground, and connect the input to the VR sensor wire at the factory ecu and output to your tacho
