Hi guys, my mother has a 1996 Telstar TX5... It keeps blowing headlight bulbs... Lucky if they last a month... It happens to both sides, and I was wondering if anyone here knows of why this happens, and hopefully give me ways to try resolve the problem...

I have tried all sorts of different brands, Hella, Narva and so on, but no matter what, they all blow out... :( Cheers Guys....

With the headlights going and car running measure the voltage at the two low beam pins that plug onto the globe (not at the battery)... Tell us if the voltage at the glob holder itself is abnormally high or low...

We'll start with that...

Cheers,
Tim

Nothing intended but you are aware you can't touch halogen bulbs with your bare hands yes? So many people touch them and then wonder why they blow... Though that usually happens in a very short period of time so I am thinking that's not it...

Cheers,
Tim

Yep, I've always known about not touching the glass... To be honest, I actually thought I may had been touching it without knowing... But no, that's not it... If it was my car, I'd just take it to an Auto Electrian... But it's my mum's car, and she can't afford to get it seem to...

i always make sure i clean the globe/s with a clean cloth before using them. i don't remember having any problems and that was with me touching the glass piece at times with bare skin [before cleaning them]
