Turn off all accessories, radio etc, put the drivers side window down.
Turn the key to reds and wait. Time will be anywhere from 30mins to 1 hour depending on the level of the car, ie GLi - Fairmont - Ghia etc. When the process is complete the door locks will cycle and the you should be able to start the car. |

Fast flash means vehicle is immobilised. Why was BEM replaced in the first place - Smartlock ran from late EBI (VERY) late to AU One -the smartlock system is the same from EBII up into the AU series.
Late AU BA BF -smartshield thru BEM - Ford have to program. smartlock modules are normally red mounted just above handbrake under dash - if no module fitted here & only a BEM fitted under dash- system has to be programmed via Ford scantool (or similar /some auto elects etc.) to program 2 keys to vehicle BEM & then to link replacement BEM to Engine computer (allows injection pulse) If module is present leave key on reds as instructed by SWC to allow key signal to download to module until smartlock light stops flashing and stays illuminated, door locks will cycle over once the procedure has finished. When they do you have 30 seconds to start the engine or you've got to start process again. Note.check your fuses esspecially dome light key only turns ignition switch- sensor inside switch sends signal to smartlock module If you changed a BEM module and not a smartlock module (if fitted)as you have said the keyreader should still be programmed to the smartlock module(if fitted) and allow vehicle to start- which would suggest that you have smartshield which requires Ford programming as above. Suggest you refit old BEM which should allow vehicle to start to drive to Dealer for programming of replacement BEM.... |

You are 100% good here that you refit old BEM which should allow vehicle to start to drive to Dealer for programming of replacement BEM. |
