Hi,
What HID kit can i put into my Ford EL? Is it the H1 globe for the low beam and how many watts? Would the 55w be too much and burn my lense or the 33w be ok? Thanks |

they usually come in 35w and 55w. I've always used a 35w kit. And if I were you i'd buy a kit that is high/low switchable so they don't just cut out when you flick to high beam

Thanks no. on a Falcon the have a low beam, and high beam in a separate (inner) globe. on a low beam HID kit when you click to high beam, instead of have both globes on in the headlight, the low beam will cut out, making your light spread on high beams s**t

H4 is the main globe which does both low/high with the inner H1 turning on for high beam also

why would you want the low beam to turn of when the high beam is on? Would defeat the purpose of having high beams.
I have bought two H4 hi/lo switchable kits off eBay in the last 6 months. From an Australian supplier. So if you pay by paypal, they turn up in like 3 days this one: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/251130406586 ... 1497.l2649

I think a few of you are confused.
On EF and EL models, the globes used are as follows. Falcon/Futura: H1 low beam, and H3 high beam Fairmont/Fairlane: H4 low beam, and H3 high beam. Fitting a Hi/lo kit to a Falcon will not be possible. You would only use a H1 kit. On a Falcon the low beam stays on when you flick to high beam. On a Fairmont the low beam filament of the H4 globe turns off when you flick to high and the high beam filament turns on. But, and this is a big 'but'.... Please don't do it. HID in EF/EL headlights has to be the worst possible combination for glare to other drivers on the road. If you are dead set on it, then at least get new headlights, or get your lenses professionally restored. You will benefit from much more light on the road, and the glare put out from them will be more tolerable for other drivers. Or better yet, just don't do it. |

I just want to do it as my lights are so useless that i might as well duck tape a torch onto the front of my car lol.
Also thanks for clearing it up for me |

How bad are we taking about the glare? As the other road users wont see you and crash head on into you?
