The new cars dash cluster has two gausges that arent working, 1 is the battery volts and the other is water temp, I took out the cluster yesterday and all the plugs are in their spots, what else could it be thats making them not work?
Also went out last night turn on the headlights and they are fine while idling but as soon as we drive off they flicker then go off and on, the plugs seem to be fine so I dont know, any ideas? The rad overflow tank has a terrible leak and the cap but dont think thats why the gauge isnt working. Any ideas? cheers |

Start by checking your alternator output. Should be 13.8 to 14.4 volts. Check alternator for power steering fluid contamination. An alternator overcharging could cause the lights to flicker.

Yesterday I was messing around with my headlights after I read a thread about the alt not being able to hold enough volts with thermos and headlights running.
After I turned on my headlights and waited for the thermos to kick in the headlights would flash after about 10mins and during that time every time they flicked off I could hear a ticking sound, What is that? I was thinking maybe it was a ground problem for the headlights but unsure. Also my dash cluster still doesnt work on Volts and water temp, What can I check there? or should I just buy a new cluster and see if that fixes it? Need to know my temp while driving. Cheers |
