Did an engine swap a few months ago.
Had to swap wiring harness from series 2 to 1 (for the inlet & inj) & in the process my helper had to force one of the plugs off the trans. Plug came off with a bang! No surprise, now... occasionally, I need to physically push the shifter harder into park to get the engine to fire, already in park but need to hit it softly. The starter is also intermittently dodgy so between the pair of 'em I'm momentarily scratching my head sometimes. What would a likely cause be, neutral safety on the shifter, or trans elec' connector fault maybe ? |

Could be both but, maybe a start with a new Neutral safety switch?

It occurred to me that the answer is simple considering the 2 know faults, my curiosity now though is, which of the 2 plugs (elec) on the trans are related to the neutral safety?
From memory, the old XF's had an actual switch on the T bar inside the console. I gather the AU would be different? Possibly controlled internally via electronics. I just like to know for what, or where I'm looking when fault finding before I dive in a start pulling parts off. |

the AU is on the side of the box ... think it's to the left of the electricial solenoid connector. which one did they "pop" off?
