Not sure if in right section.

Ive smoked the rear tail lights of my car using night shades, not dark (1 coat) so the lights are still clearly visible, but the reverselights arnt as functional as they should be. My question is would it be possible to add some led lights (or globed) wired into the reverse lights on the bumper or somewhere else? Would doing that pass rego? Or do reverse lights have to be in factory location?
