hi all hope yous are well,
i owned a el futura and found the remote locking/unlocking great! it was the first car i owned that had remote central locking. i now own a ed xr6 in great condition i am only the third owner with 157000ks on it. now i found the remote for the el futura worked up to about 15 meters away. the remote for the ed xr6 only works when i am standing next to the car . i have put new battery's in all remotes and with no improvements. i am wondering if there is an antenna somewhere in the car to receive the signal from the remotes. if so can anyone tell me where it is and if not is there a way to improve the reception range. i have looked through the forums on this wonderful website and could not find any information on the problem. any help will be greatly appreciated, cheers shaddoweaver

thanks mad2, it was a stab in the dark. when i put an after market central locking in my laser it had an antenna wire so was hoping the ed xr6 had one also. i am wondering if all the ed range have the same issue. any one who owns an ed reading this please let me know if they have the same issue. again mad2 thanks for the heads up,
cheers shaddoweaver

with some of the EB's have bought & the EL have here ..... plus the AU .... they are not that great . . Au's work roughly no more than 3 metres [at times seems more like no more than 2!] & others i would say def no more than 2 metres. partners BF's remote works a lot betterer than any of mine [not sure but i 'think' it's an aftermarket unit? ] & it's about 4/5 metres max.

BA/BF also have the remote antenna module mounted above the vents in the ICC

Just a hint.
EB / ED Falcons were not rolling code like technology on their remote systems back then meaning that the remote could be potentially copied and duplicated by the bad guys. Having a short range with the remote in my view is better security for us and harder for randoms to pick up the remote signals. The chance of this happening is rare i know but...
