Putting my dizzy back in . Motor is at TDC , where is the rotor button supposed to point ? Im guessing at start ?
Is there any detailed steps in putting it back in? Can't seem to find any definite info .

Sounds right ftom my experience just make sure youv got plenty of adjustment +or - to fine tune it either way and make sure that the dizzy has slipped right down into the oil pump drive. It can be a prick to get right in

It's sitting flush against the block , just can't get it out to reposition it . At the moment it's at TDC and the rotor button is pointing towards the rear of the motor .
I lined it up on start before but as it meshed with the gear it rotated it . Ill have to take that into account when I line up it again Thanks

when fitting the dizzy , with the dizzy flush with the block the rotor button should be on the finish line.. if you line the button up to the start line before it goes in, by the time its all the way in it will end up on the finish line..

I lined it up on start when I put it it . Wonder why it's not on finish ?

When inserting the dizzy the rotor button should roughly line up with "start", and when fully seated it the rotor button will rotate and should point at "finish"

Have the TFI angled around 60 deg to the rear when the rotor has seated so that gives you enough timing adjustment when you rotate the dizzy body.

Since I have a microtech controlling the timing will rotating the dizzy also adjust timing ??

yes... you still need to have a base timing to start with..

I got lined up . Only way to get it seated on the block was to rotate the crank 1/4 of a turn . But that still didn't line it up , so I turned the balancer so the mark was 1/4 of a turn off TDC . Then turned it to TDC and it seated .

Yep, sometimes the oil pump drive doesn't line up and stops it seating fully.
Just takes some fiddling, either rotating the dizzy to different spots, or rotating the engine a little. |

Under Neath the dizzy cap it has start and finish written on the plastic cover which the cap clips to .
Not sure what it means but I'm guessing it means the start and finish of number 1 piston compression stroke ?

as mentioned above the start position is when you put the rotor to before fitting the dizzy, when you insert the dizzy the shaft will rotate a little as the gear meshes, once the dizzy is all the way in the rotor should be at the finish line.. providing the engine is at tdc compression stroke with the rotor facing the finish line it should start and run ...
