I recently bought and drove home (about 3 kms) my latest Ford a 93 XG ute. Was running well but the fuel pump was terribly loud. Went ok for a few days but knew I would need to do the fuel pump soon. Went to drive it last weekend and had all dash lights but no prime on the fuel pump. Car cranked ok but no start and no pump noise.
So decided pump was dead. Changed in a new fuel filter and a new pump today....and still the same. Tested the old fuel pump and it worked out of the car..after I had changed it over...grrrr. So I now think its the relay. Have read a few threads where the struggling fuel pump can burn out the relay......is this possible? The old fuel filter was disgusting and full of rusty fuel...had not been changed for a loooong time!!! So the old pump may have been struggling to push fuel past the filter...i think. Does this sound feasible??? So next job is to test with a good relay I think. Any help/comments appreciated at this stage as I just wanna get it moving so I can do it up!!!! |
