After reading this, i decided to change mine. It wasn't a good idea to do it so late in the day. I ran out of daylight, and coolant. Luckilly i caught the coolant i drained from the car. But i'm cut, bruised and my hands smell like old stinky coolant. I hope it was worth it.

hahahaha sorry. Took me 20 mins including warming it up a bit.

I didnt drain the system. I took off the top hose and bent it up onto the EFI manifold. I lost a couple liters from it.

I didnt fully use a the 4L.

When i first put it in it took a while to get steady. Like it would heat up to the top of the M then down to the L. Now it usually sits on the A.

When i thrashed the car last night i got up to 13.5L but with some ok driving, eg no hard gunning and being a P plater i get 12L.

Mine used to run under C in winter and damn near H in summmer. Chewin its way through 14.4L/100

I recently replaced the thermostat. Sits pretty now dead in the middle and fuel usage dropped to 13.3/100 at avg speed of 40. Highly recommend anyone with abnormal temp and high fuel usage to change. I now get near 500km to a tank!

My temp gauge rarely hits the first line of the bracket around the NORMAL. On a hot day I might hit the L and if I'm pushing it up the range like I do regulary I just reach the A. But my fuel economy can sit around 15-18L/100km. Right foot and acoustics are to blame me thinks.

Thats what i had. I changed to a 91° and it goes to M or A and uses less fuel.

For my money if you are having perceived fuel ecomony problems (given the variation in everyones driving style) the only way to try and work it out properly would be to put it on the dyno and check the mixtures at cruise and under load. If they are pretty goo then I would say that it is your driving style. If the mixtures are not where they are supposed to be then you can start looking at why. I don't think that it is good practice to speculate on your fuel economy without checking the most fundamental of things like the air fuel ratios.

Cheers
Paul

I don't think mine is a temp issue other than it is a brand new radiator installed recently. But I would like to put it on a dyno as Nelpd96 said (have always known this is the most sensible plan).
