i think that is due to the oil leaking into the chamber. thats what i was told once. but don't quote me on that. oil is either seeping into the exhaust or something. if its white smoke u have water leaking into the chamber. hope that helps.

I thought black smoke was running extreamly rich, and white smoke was an oil leak into the cyl, such as valve stem seals or ring blowby?

Cheers

hmmmm probably. i had white smoke coming out of my car once, becos water was leaking into the engine or something. and the guy had to pull my engine apart and rebuild it. just my opinion.

yeah i got my battery replaced. and once i took out the battery for about half a day. im guessing thats what causes it to reset? i took battery out in april and june. my car stuffed up on new years eve and battery was taken out for half a day only to find out that alternator was the cause of flat battery. and about a month ago i took it out for about an hour or 2 to replace fuel pump.

does that cause ECU to reset? what do i have to do to get it back to normal?

Okay so what happens is you litres per Kilometre readout goes back to maximum and takes some time to come down again, so the more that you drive it the closer it will go back to the true average. This is because you have reset the computerby removing the battery. You can get a 9 volt adapter that plugs into you ciggie lighter that is supposed to keep your ECU Info from supercheap or other car stores like that.

Also if you drive your car hard the longer it will take to get back to a true average Litres per Kilometre.

sound like a suspect o2 sensor if using too much fuel, reseting ecu might help. easy to check if o2 sensor by getting multi-meter and checking output when engine running. digital multi meter is the best, reading should vary between 0.2 - 0.7 ish, while revving up and down , if stays constant replace
