Hi, believe it or not during the repair process to a EL V8, the ECU was removed and not returned?! Now the car sits patiently awaiting the location of an ECU. After looking around I thought that the correct ECU would be a 6DGD but it were suggested that a 4DEG could work? can anyone let me know what ECU i should be looking for and if any other one may suit. I do not know the diff ratio or whether it is factory gas but do know it is not a Tickford V8, just a windsor motor that runs on gas. Any reply is welcomed, thanks

6DHE,6DHD should work but there are others. 4DEG is EF and therefore fan control will be wrong.

Nice! They seem to be a difficult box to find. I need to mention that it is a Fairlane Ghia Sedan, quite a beast really, just such a hold up missing an ECU.

The only one for sale online presently is a secondhand 6DGD for around $115 delivered to my door.
Is there anywhere you could recommend to track one down, ecenomically? I have had a look through lots of catch codes to ensure i am accurate (as normally i am an old computer tech from the 80/90's) and really liked your response. Thanks.

Some sort of feedback.. Because the car had to be moved it were hotwired?(haven't seen it yet) were that worked and now with the straight fitting of the ECU (Purchased smoothly via ebay) the car just won't turn over.

My only thought is to some possible proceedure that needs to be folowed when a replacement ECU is fitted to a vehicle, i doubt it i said via phone, he replied, it seems to be an electrical fault. We'll see i say. cheers anyways. all good

What do you mean by hotwired?
No procedure...just plug the new EEC in. With the key on engine off, can you hear the pump run or hear the fuel pump relay click on then two seconds later turn off? If not smartlock module may be faulty.
