Hey guys,

Im looking at putting aftermarket ecu into my turbo ef and just wondering do you need to keep the factory ecu for any functions or can you completely replace it with aftermarket standalone ecu?

Cheers

I was pretty sure you could as most of the non engine related systems have own modules.

the ef would need to keep the factory ecu for the purpose of trans function if its auto?
also the operation of the a/c, if your keeping the a/c, im also pretty sure you need it for the temp gauge and possibly speedo..

you can however piggyback an aftermarket ecu on the factory one.

ea/ed are a little easier to do as the cluster in ea/ed gets its signals from the sensors not the ecu...
