Just recently got my car running with an EMS 8860. Turbo 4L, sequential injection, 6 LS1 coils firing sequentially etc. I took advantage of as much of the computer as I could.
What a great computer, I would recommend it to anyone! Also I'd like to add to the overview on the first page about the EMS base maps, they are not crude at all, the basic EB 6cyl base map with all the setup changes we made for the sequential injection and ignition was good enough to turn my car on and drive it around with a very limited amount of changes to the fuel map. EMS base maps have a VE table mapped into boost aswell which is good if you need to run in a new turbo motor. |

I did the opposite of Tim and wanted something uncomplicated so fitted a microtech LT10s to my EF a few weeks ago.
It runs the injectors and ignition in 3 batches of 2. It doesnt have anything fancy but it was easy to install and fired up and drove fine first go without any adjustments. For a total cost of $1095 and 3 days of work in the shed and 0 days in a workshop I cant complain. |

After years of waiting I found that CAPA's chip still didn't support my catch code ( 6DGC ) and after a long delay with a following tweecer setup I had, I shelled out for a Wolf v500. I should have done this from the outset.
Now with a proper tune, my engine has a far superior performance output and I have a very healthy respect for the abilities of the Wolf v500. A list of its abilities is listed here ---> Wolf v500 Features <---

Hi there,
I have been installing Vi-PEC V88 ECU'S to both BA XR8 (HARROP BLOWER FITTED) and BA XR6T's. Full DBW control, etc, etc, etc. They work great. |

My VP200 has an Autronic SMC & I cant wait to get rid of it. It's been nothing but trouble & has cost me a small fortune.
I'm looking for a new 'cheap' ECU for the Mustang & these Megasquirt things sound like value for money. At the end of the day it's only a dragcar so dont need multiple inputs, I only need to run injectors & spark. Can anyone elaborate on the Megasquirt? Cheers. |

Its easy to use but putting together is a bit of work. If something goes wrong and you dont really know electronics it could be a throw away. :S
Someone needs to add the wolf V500 to the first post. Ive got one. Its good. They do all sorts of things. They can control BF variable cam timing but they cant do electronic throttle control. Ive got one in place of my stock ECU. It runs everything well, is hooked up to my techedge for logging, cold starts are pretty good, economy is pretty good, power is pretty good etc etc. |

Hey bud, i know this is a post from a while back, but i'm gonna hook a barra 4.0l up with 1 of these (V88) in a xg ute, just wondering what you did with the cop's ie. what ignitors did you use, i'm looking at using nissan 6 channel @ the moment, was going to make my own 6 channel but dont want to run the risk of cooking the V88. Any info would be great. Cheers, Laurie |

Would it be worth going low end aftermarket ECU and tune for something with mild engine mods? I've got an EL Fairmont Ghia which is recieving CMS Stage 3 head/2a cam, full exhaust with high flow cat and pacemaker extractors with the usual intake mods.
Or would I be better suited to a TI Performance chip? Or just no tune at all running standard ECU with my mods? Thanks much guys |

depends what you want to do in the future. if you are going to keep it like this or similar then a J3 chip is all you need. if you plan on major engine work or boost then aftermarket ECU is the way. massive difference in price but a J3 will open up alot more power from your setup then using just the stock ECU

I don't plan on going too crazy, this will be it really.
What's a J3 and a tune worth these days? |
