Hey guys i was doing my research on what ECU to get and i decided to go with the EMS8860, ihavent bought it yet because i cant find anyone to answer whetheri can run it in my ef as its an auto. Have any of you guys run an aftermarket computer on an EF auto? oh yeah its an XR6 dont know whether that ,makes any difference though. The reason why i want to upgrade it because i have had a gut full with limp home mode ad im thinking about turboing it later just want to do it properly.

No aftermarket ECUs will run the auto, you have to piggy back them to the stock ECU.
Wolf are apparently working on it, but it hasn't been done yet.
Generally there is a cause for limp home mode, I'd be trying to find out what that cause is personally.

lol its not the only reason i have found out today that my ECU is incredibly gay and being an XR6 it is unreasonable to replace that one so it, so the cause is the ECU. it looks like ill be piggy backing the system. when you do this does it limit the function of the aftermarket system? because im thinking about prgressively turboing my car?
Cheers

Hey,

If you have to piggy back an ecu so you can keep the auto, then why spend the money on a full standalone ecu, when you can get fuel and ignition ones, like the ones Haltech sell?? Either sell the auto and go manual, or wait for a really expensive solution.
Just my 2c worth.

Cheers

8-) Daz 8-)

No, it doesn't.
It's not piggybacking in the literal sense.
It's more "sharing sensors".
The aftermarket ECU is still doing everything 100%, all you are doing is giving the stock ECU the signals it needs to keep looking after the auto.
