Well on Monday night it looks like my Alternator failed, I went over to a mates house to whatch a wrestling ppv and when we left to get some munchies it lagged coughed and spluttered etc and woulnd't start and push starting the car didn't do anything, it would start and once it got load it would die.

Any way I put a battery into it today and it had 12.3 across the terminals and when started it had 11.7 no 14.whatever it usually shows. Now the alternator itself is only like 18 months old brought it brand new.

What could be the reason for a new alternator to s**t itself? Or would the regulator have failed thus alternator failing?

i would say that the power sttering pump leak in your other thread is the cause for the alternator failure...

there are a number of things that can stop a alternator from charging,

Regulator
Slip-ring
diode,
or a broken wire in the armature or stator,

What brand was it replaced with

Genuine Ford - BA10300B ?
OEX - MXA285
OEX - MXA317- May require 44-76425 Plug Adapter

Is there any oil leaks from the engine or power steering as the oils affects the alternator heaps

Scotty

still got your paperwork for the alternator? most come with 2 year warranty, but at troyman said, if power steer fluid has got into it, that kills all it touches. but worth a warranty check none the less, these things fail from time to time.

I would think it's had oil in it, do do that, was there any signs of it,

You wont get anything from the supplier if thats the case,
