I run about 25deg at idle as I try to minimise the step of 40deg at 1250rpm at cruise as much as possible. If you say run 10deg then you have a 30 degree step which tends to make the power at crusing speeds of say 900 to 1250 erratic. Its a bit hard to explain but I have reason for running a high initial advance. The problem is if you go too high then it can give a fluctuating idle.
I run 15.5 up tp -30kpa 15A/F at -20kpa, 14A/f at -10, 13A/F at 0kpa then 12.5 at +kpa.

You could bump your cruise timing to 45deg. It seems to be the timing that helps with economy.

When I go for a economy run I have to drive like a p***y to get the good economy, but considering I run a big fuel pump and 550cc injectors, economy is still achievable. Running Lucas injectors helps a bit IMO

mine sits on 7-9L per 100ks on the freeway, so hwy stuff its good but its accell thats a killa

I just got myself a hand held tuner which is handy to see whats goin on, took it for a drive tonight and it seems 99% there

must organise a dyno guy (was thinking TnR green) to tune my 0kpa
timing and fuel is hard to judge on the road

If your gonna use a dyno try Brett at PSI performance. I've never used him but like some of the work he has done and think he knows a thing or two.

Maybe I was wrong, just Brett seemed to know his stuff, but perceptions can be wrong also. Now you know why I tune the way I do (on the strip and street with dataloging and wideband on the EMS). I think on most parts of the tuning map I get very good result. Its just that I tune conservatively and even at a conservative tune you can easily get 500rwhp out of turbo 6. I try to never put the motor at risk.

yeah, true that

i did oput mine on a dyno for a tune a couple of years ago and was VERY dissapointed!!!

I find the auto tune with the ems is good for -20kpa to -80kpa between 1000rpm - 3000rpm

everthing else i do with the data logger

Ive got AFr'e 99% now, running sweeeet

Now been playing with timing...
Runing 43* (as tony said 45* may be a goer) and it ok, starting to feel a little hesitant..?

And i bumped up to 37* @ wot
feels awsome, never pings but blows more smoke, any ideas???
Im goin to run 37* up to 3500 rpm then follow the tourque curve up the rpm range and finish at 33* @ 5500
