Analogue version (old one) is $89, Digital version (new one) is around $200. Add postage on top of that.

I'll be investing in one of the digital suckers once I have a full time job, got my car resprayed, and got my air con regassed for the summer.

OK, have completed a bunch of the units.
See attached pics.

The Diagnostic Code Reader (DCR) unit comes with:-
1. The DCR Unit
2. User guide/code tables - 70 pages
3. CD-ROM with USB drivers (XP, Vista, Mac, Windoes CE/Mobile, PC Pocket, etc) and utilities.
4. USB cable
5. XF/EA/EB Adapter cable.

I won't list the price here as they will be a "Fordmods-price".... I will also be offering this on eBay.... (will be listed later tonight).... don't want the forums price to be able to ne googled.

PM me if you would like one.
Thanks for your patience.

Had a good look at that a few times..... does not look possible (without a huge amount of work).
Problem is that Ford used a proprietary protocol... big job to decode this.

hey if your still making those testers can you let me know how much and if they can help me I"ve got an ef ex taxi that had a computer fault (4tec 94dt-12a-650-ec) which can't find replacement for (mechanic suggested) after he replaced a sensor but had the air bag light on for a while also not sure if this has anything to do with it, but it's stuck in third gear.(safety/ limp home mode? ) but if I could diagnose myself I could have a go and is their any other ECU that could do the same job ( if it is the ECU) cheers

Flipa, the "T" in the catchcode 4TED means it is a Tickford ECU. This was probably related to your vehicle being factory gas version. All factory gas systems were fitted by Tickford.
From info I have you could also use a 4TEF = 94DT 12A650 EF which is listed as Axle 3.08:1, 16"wheels, all LPG.
Basically any ECU out of a factory gas fitted EF would be suitable.
If your vehicle is not a factory fitted gas version then any ECU out of an EF auto would serve.

The 104pin ECUs fitted to EF had a problem with high failure rate which is why Ford went back to the EECIV in the EL (which allowed many of us to retrofit the EL ECU/BBM combo in ED and earlier cars).

The ECU places the trans in Limp mode through a range of reasons and these would read out as fault codes. Looks like all the causes of limp mode are related to the transmission itself, however, something like a hardware fault in a solenoid circuit in the ECU would look like a solenoid failure and that would cause limp mode... i.e. could be trans or ECU faults causing this issue.

I'll PM the pricing details.
