I know that this is for ECU and fuel systems. but i figured that exhaust is kinda fuel system because once the fuel goes through the cylinder it kinda goes out the exhaust. also the hego is attached to the manifold thats ecu related:P My girlfriend has an Astina sp20 and i've convinced her to get a little work done. I guess you guys don't know much about little 4 cyls, so i'll give you a few details. Stock, it comes as a firm ride, with firm suspension and fairly low to the ground. Its a 2L engine. Front wheel drive. I convinced her that it would improve the note of the engine and improve throttle response and power. However, the choice for what system to go for, for this car has been harder than the choice for mine. (EB S-pak: pacemaker ph 4480, lukey 2.5" exhaust + muffler). We've been looking around and pacemakers seem to be the way to go. We're not going for rice here. Just want it to go a little harder and sound nice, not like a cricket down a canon. the exit pipe for the pacemaker is 2.25" so i've recommended we go with an exhaust thats the same size. However, is this car going to sound dronie? katie called up a few exhaust places and one of them recommended a 2" because he said a 2.25" would sound dronie. I'm thinking that maybe he thinks its too hard to bend a 2.25" to fit. Even if it will make it drone a little bit theres no way i'll allow a restrictive exhaust after an extractor. Do you think theres any point to getting a high flow cat? i figured they'd just mod the one shes got in the shop so it fits the pipe, figured the current cat won't be restrictive. Do you think a resonator will take any power off any gains? Do you think a straight through muffler will do okay? or go with a triple bend muffler? or other. If so, will it be detrimental to power and how much will the noise be attenuated?? On the lukey website it mentioned that the straight through actually has more attenuation than the triple bend. We don't want this to sound like a civic with a milo tin, just enjoy an improved note with the performance and economy to match. Also, any ideas on brands? The most popular one around here for the extractors has been the wildcat although i hav'nt heard much about them and on threads theres been reports of their paint peeling. I think my pacemakers are great, after two years they still look like they were installed yesterday. Do you think theres any diffrence on what muffler we go for? I'm a fan of lukey, but then that is what i have on my car. Will lukeys stll be suitable for a 4 ycl 2L engine??

id say go with the reccomendations of the experts. of course ask a few different people.
Try perth brake, clutch and exhaust in kenwick, we use them alot thru work and they are good. you need to remember as u said it is only a 2L 4 cyl motor so 2" may well be big for it. A good indicator is whats on it stock? |

stock is 1.75" however falcon stock is only 2" and people often recommend 2.5". Also this guy was one out of five who recommended 2" instead of 2.25"

My mate has an 01 astina sp20 - he put pacemakers on it and it sounds good and has some good go!
He also changed the engine mounts to some mazda speed ones and put a short shifter on. He mentioned some good sites on them ill see if i can find out for you

Hi, It's Katie here.
I had my car looked at by a guy from Exhaust World in West Perth yesterday. We found it actually has two Cats, so i'm most likely going to have to replace them both with one new one...there goes 300 bucks... We checked out the size of the pipe and its already about 2" from the first muffler to the end of the exhaust. And is about 1.3/4" from manifold through the cats and to the first muffler. So an upgrade to a 2.1/4" will probably be ok. Plus the outlet on the pacemakers is 2.1/4 which would work perfectly. So will go with pacemakers, new cat, maybe keep first old muffler, and get a new Lukey for the back + new 2.1/4" pipes. It's gonna cost me 470 for extractors filled, 320ish for new cat filled and 320 for rest of pipes and new muffler. so $1110 all up. Done!!! What does anyone think?????? (Hi Brad )
