Gday,
I bought some AU injectors today to replace the ones which i think are dodgy in my EL, are these straight plug in because the actual EL injectors look quite different. I havn't had a good look at the plug but im hoping they will go straight in. The EL injectors are 18lbs The AU injectors are 20lbs Will let you know how i go, im hoping it will fix my flat spot but if it dosn't i know the injectors are better for future mods. Im sure someone else has done this, is there anything special i need to do before i put them in? should get some carby cleaner an give the ports a scrub? or dont worry about it. Cheers

yep they are a direct fit, i put them in my el, all you have to do is grease the oring before you slip them in. you wont notice a difference in power, but you will feel a smoother delivery.

I'd also suggest getting a new fuel filter if you can be bothered...will help keep the injectors cleaner initially. If you can really be bothered, clean the fuel rail and maybe check the fuel rail to see fit is dirty...saves you from getting old dirt stuck in the new injectors. phong =P~

ok thanks for that, I got a new fuel filter about 6 months ago so that should be ok. How do you clean the fuel rail and what with?
Cheers

Don't you also need to fit an au fuel pressure regulator?

just throw them in. no other mods.
replaced my fuel pump and its improved the low down response a little. however didn't do anything for the hesitation and bad idle or low power.

I put 30,000kms AU injectors in my car (hopefully days!) will take out my 200,000kms+ injectors in, for the AU ones, Cos i got hold of a free AU BBM, with everyone on it, including injectors, I was going the back of the wreckers, and find that the, AU S3 Falcon, that only down 30,000kms ... Laticia .

Just put an AU fuel rail, pressure reg and injectors into the wagon and.. Me like... She was already running fairly smooth but this mod has managed to improve on that. Much smoother idle at the lights etc. She also seems a have a bit more torque low down as well.
I'd recommend this quite straightforward mod to any EF/L owner. Well worth the $11.50 (cost of 1 injector) the nice girl at the local wreckers charged me for the whole lot .

Hey guys sorry to resurrect an old thread but I am looking at upgrading the fuel injectors in my EF, I was wondering if the AU injectors are the best way to go? Or are there any better options? And what setup would go well, such as what fuel pump, fuel rail and pressure reg should I use? Thanks in advance!

For NA there is really no options other than the AU 20lb injectors. If you were to go any bigger, you would need to chip the ECU to control the injector and they would be scaled back to what the AU Injectors are, so no benefit to going any larger unless you are going boost. The AU injector will give you a better spray pattern, 4 holes v the 1 hole in the 19lb E series injector. There will be no performance increase other than you may feel a small amount of improved throttle response, you will notice a small improvement in economy. Stock fuel pump, stock fuel rail, stock pressure reg. AU std pressure reg was still only a 270kpa, XR6 300kpa and VCT 350kpa. |
