BTW: is anyone else receiving junk emails to the email address you provided to this forum?

I created an email address specifically for this forum (as I do for all online forums): this address is now being spammed (fake PayPal alerts, etc...)

Contacted fordmods site admin - no response.

Any thoughts on how my email address ended up in the hands of spammers???

i would check your end as my email addy doesn't get any .... but my ebay one does :roll:

G'day all,

I bought one of the ELM327 v1.5 / OBD2 units off evilbay and downloaded FORscan to use on my two AUs. When I connect the interface FORscan says;

"unable to connect to vehicle, bad ELM327 clone detected. In contrast to OBD2 applications, FORscan requires an adapter FULLY compatible with original ELM327. This adapter is not fully compatible"

It seems I got a dodgy adapter but it looks identical to the one muzza posted. Anyone had this issue? is there a work-around? If I buy another interface, how do I know if I'm getting the right one?

Cheers.

this thread goes back to 2016. So to resurect it.
I bought a scanner of aliexpress a couple of years ago, very cheap, used it just recently the damn
thing worked with forscan, no error message thats its cheap chinese clone.
Got very lucky. It was usb type obd scanner/dongle. Went back to the seller to see if still available, and seller is no longer on aliexpress....so no point posting link.
But how i'm trying to get cheap bluetooth style, have bought 3 cheap ones from china, all come back with cheap chinese clones mesage on forscan, none of them work, not even with other cars.
So if starting out I would go for usb type, there are plenty on aliexpress that say they are forscan compatible..........type obd2 forscan into search.....maybe ozzie ebay seller is better bet.

Anyhow back to the one that worked with forscan, what an amazing tool to have. Have used it to check temp gauge not working problem, very useful, can see ect ( temp probe) voltage live data. Turns out car computer is seeing correct temp even though incorrect voltage being reported on live data.......go figure.
