I got a set of AU injectors from wreckers, had then cleaned no problems with them. replaced the fuel filter and blew line clean while it was open with no injectors, fitted the AU injectors, primed the rail a couple of times then fired up the engine, it had what sounded like a misfire, shut it down checked I put all vacuum lines on, yep, fired it up again and sounds the same and blowing smoke like a 2 stroke gave it a few revs more smoke, shut it down, removed injectors re-fitted orignal and all good, ok so I thought it must be the cleaning agent used in the injectors. I did some digging in my pile of looms and cut off one of the injector lines hooked it up to the battery and blew compressed air down the injectors, re-fitted them and same situation, got me stumped!
the only thing I can think of is the injectors don't sit as far into the intake as the E-series which could give the vacuum leak misfire? or am I missing something else |

thats strange...
i used them previously and so have a lot of others without any issues at all. maybe 1 of the injectors are not closing or are sticking? did they give you the flow in cc per min after they were cleaned?? |

no flow rate, my uncle did the clean (runs his own shop) he said one was lazy but came good, when I hooked them to battery to test them one is not as loud as the rest but appears to spray/seal good.

scott make sure they all flow the same rate or at least close to it, if not piss the weaker ones off and get some more.
I've been running au's for years and never had a problem at yet!

Just put in au injectors and got a misfire also, did you find the problem in the end?

For the sake of people doing searches, I fitted AU 4 hole injectors to my EF and they work fine.

I used the complete fuel rail, pressure regulator etc from an AU (Was off a Fairmont Ghia VCT engine if it makes any difference, but I'm pretty sure they are the same through the AU series) when I swapped mine out. Had no dramas whatsoever, was a very straight forward swap and made a noticeable difference in idle quality and low end grunt.

Yep - I also got noticeably smoother idle + better tractability right thru the range - ie. tractability as in ability to keep hauling longer / slower + smoother before kicking down - ie. staying in higher gear longer uphill etc.
I also subsequently fitted a set of new proper EF Falcon Injectors (single pintle) and immediately no longer had smooth idle and tractability was significantly worse. AU injectors went right back in...

I'll add that I fitted AUs to both my EF when it had a 1673 as well as my EL which is running stock Tickford running gear.
I don't know about an increase in power but there was a marked difference with both on idle. |

I had AU injectors in my car, ran smoother but lost power on the dyno.

it was power mid-top end power. It was about 4-5kw. It seemed to run richer with the AU injectors. They are 20lb and the e-series are 18-19lb so it will happen.
Il try find the sheet found it: this was with a Au equiv of the Wade 1636 cam. Blue line is AU injectors, Red line is with EL injectors. download/file.php?id=31077&mode=view
