Replaced fuel pressure reg. Fuel pump. Filter. 02 sensor. Plugs. Leads.
Have a feeling it started happening when I replaced the air filter with k&n. Maybe need a new maf??Can you clean them? Or would it need to be replaced

In my personal opinion i think K&Ns are crap. The oiled ones especially and can cause issues with Map sensors etc.
You should see how dirty and oily the throttle bodies were on my cars when i used them. I find the paper/Pollen air filters are much better and the cars have been happier since. Some may have different opinions. And on another hand i think most Falcons usually run a bit rich anyway.

Oh no this is ridiculously rich to the point I wash my rear bumper once a week due to excess black smoke. But yes. It is an oily k &n. I also throw a backfire once every now and then when giving it a boot full. (Backfire happens around once a week) any suggestions ?

Have you checked the engine is running up to temp? If the thermostat is stuck open and its running cold then it will run pritty rich, jst had that happen to mine

Check for vacuum leaks!

yes, my au ghia had a high fuel consumption, I found that the intake manifold bolts were loose, after replacing the gasket and fitting a new paper air filter fuel consumption dropped dramatically..
just check and tighten the manifold bolts and maybe try a std air filter... a over oiled k&n can cause air restriction and poor fuel economy |

+1 over-oiled air filter
+1 vacuum leak. With the engine running, spray all vacuum hoses and all gasket joins between the throttle body and the head with brake cleaner spray; revs will rise when you hit a leak. Also, could be a failed T-MAP sensor (the sixes use a MAP sensor, rather than a MAF meter) mounted beneath the throttle body.
