Hey,
Are there many people out there fooling the auto ECU to run with a 5 speed? I've got everything but the manual ECU and want to do the conversion. Just wondering if anyone has had probems with idle etc and if somebody can tell me exactly what size resistors i need and where to put them.......i'd rather a manual ECU but they're do damn hard to find! Cheers in advance.

Voxace I think has done this, I think all you gotta do a trick the ECU into doing something.
PM him. Ben |

Need to put a resistor in between two wires to trick the computer to thinking its in either park or neutral. And thats it basically. Idle quality remains fine, and it will start for you

my EBII auto ecu worked fine with my 5 speed manual conversion, but it had a 5 grand limiter, n if u tried to dump the clutch it stalled, oh and it idled high (1200rpm) so if u dont mind all them then it will be fine

Ive got a fooled ECU.. works fine for me..
Basically a resistor on the trans Temp line, and the gear selector line... its really simple... Look in your repair manual to find the values for a normal temperature, and the neutral selector, and place those in... Done. Cheers

I am running an EDXR6 Auto ECU in my car which I just converted to Manual on the weekend.
As long as your driving like a granny it works fine - but runs s**t if you give it any. The idle is fine, but it does this bunny hop thing under load (not my driving). It also doesnt want to go over 4500. Spoke to a few people about it today, and they told me to run the resistor thingo in it till I can source a Manual ECU, but I cant find any info on exactly what I need to do to do this trick.

I just converted my EL Fairmont Ghia to manual. The doco that is floating around was different to the plug on my auto. All you have to do is get a mutlimeter on to your neutral switch of the auto and see what the resistance is when its in neutral (should be 7K) then bridge it across the plug of your neutral switch. Then auto temp sender on the other hand is pin No. 40 on your ECU, all you do is connect one lead of a multimeter onto pin 40 and bell out all the wires at the old auto plug on your car. Once this is found use a 1.2K resistor and bridge it between the wire you just belled out and the one next to it. This will fix all the problems!

EF and EL have a differnet set up on the box , i have done this and works fine , 7.2 risiter on the temp wires (drops rpm down to about 650+ )and 1.2 on the black plug that way the thermos speed is set to low
