Does anyone have info on BA airbag system. I am replacing system parts after front end crash. Require info on airbag monitor. Have replacement airbag, crash sensor, and seat belt pretensioner. Can original monitor be reset. If it must be replaced, does it have to be programmed by Ford dealer?
Regards

basic info. In an accident the Restraints control module deploys the appropriate airbags depending on the accident speed, angle etc.

theres a bit more to it aswell, there is a seat track sensor that senses how far back the seat is, if its all the way back the airbags are let off completley, if its real all the way forewards, the air bag is let off only enough to do more good than harm, also there is seat belt pretensioners that lock seat belt in an accident

Can the airbag monitor be reset or does it have to be replaced?
If replaced, does it have to be programmed by a Ford dealer?
I have an airbag and seat belt pretensioner to fit. Will obviously be replacing crash sensor on radiator support panel

thanks psupernak, that is the precise info I was after. I don't work in the auto industry any more and have fallen way behind on the technology side. I think I should stick to mechanical work and leave accident damaged vehicles alone. But they certainly are a challenge
