Hey guys
im thinking about getting a ba engine to slap into my ef after ive done some top end work. only thing got me thinking is running it lol has anyone been about get a ba engine running in a ef? using either ba ecu or ef/au ecu without going MSII or some aftermarket one? i supose id have to money for after market ecu but id rather spend it on the engine and it intake and exhaust then the ecu. is there much differance between ef and ba intake manifold??? besides injectors? throttlebody? i could run the ef throttle body if needed. What do you guys think? is it possiable?

you'll have to modify your bonnet too.

From what I hear EF/AU ecu's will run a DOHC engine but it does not work well. The wiring for getting a BA ecu working is a little scary. It looks cheaper, easier, and better to go aftermarket for the ECU.

arr ok sounds interesting
what i need is a ba wiring loom and ef loom and compare and see if i can use ef loom but use ba ecu plug and pop all wires out of ef plug into ba one and run the extra wires for coils and cam advance. wonder if i could cheat with that lol anyone got wiring loom layout for ba? and ef ? mainly the ecu plug im chasing

Why dont you buy the engine and figure it out for yourself?
No one here will have the answer for you. If you think you can get it running spot with an ECU made for a SOHC engine with no edit or aftermarket tuning then you are dreaming. If you are going to buy an edit, may as well get a proper aftermarket ECU. If it was me. Fit the motor, fit an XF throttle body and bracket or figure out some custom bracketry to get an EF t/b working. Plug in the EF coil packs, crank trigger and injectors to the BA motor (leads on a BA motor FTL BTW) and see what happens. Be prepared to get an aftermarket ECU if it doesnt work. |

So without input or control what does the VCT hydraulics do?
Surely aftermarket ECU's don't listen to the VCT sensors or drive the VCT solenoids do they? Lukeyson |

Much much easier to put a aftermarket computer in.
Much less wiring dramas. Sure you can get the standard one to work...but will be very fiddley. Anyway, the aftermarrket will have better performace anyway. Microtech Ecu's can be had for a little over $1k, and the lastest ones can control a VCT solenoid. You can tune it to be triggered by rpm etc... |

You would use a Microtech LTX12 or a LT 12.
But there is a new ecu to be released soon called the LT-16 But your best/cheapest option would be to find a second hand ltx12... |
