I have a gq patrol with ba xr6 motor, wiring and electronics. I have the PCM set for vss from the gearbox and have the parameters set by ford for 3.45 diff and 770 pulses per mile. The issue I have is the cruise control will set and most of the time it will immediately disconnect, occasionally it will go for a little while before disconnecting. Today I discovered it seems to work ok when in 4th rather than 5th.
I am using a jaycar speedo corrector to adjust the output of the speedo sender. The parameters are valid ones so I am not sure why it disengages. My question is there another parameter for the cruise control that needs to be set?

Speaking with ford the issue is the rpm to speed ratio is not within the window for fifth gear. The PCM does calculations to make sure you are in 4th or 5th before it gets enabled. 5th ratios are .72:1 for ba and .836:1 for gq. As I can't change this ratio it appears the only solution is to forgo 4th and change the ppm setting and make a new speedo graticule.

Edit. Sorted, found if I alter the jaycar speedo corrector by 2% lower the cc now works OK.

You should be ok the t5 and t5z ratios are not that different to each other. The gq is significantly different. Not sure on the t56 though if you get there but I am thinking it would be ok as well.

Fingers crossed when I had ecu flashed i set diff ratio. Hopefully will find out in a few weeks.
After this I am thinking of doing one in a gu patrol. |

Have a peek at my "xr6t into gq" build thread over on nissanpatrol.com.au if you haven't already.

Ok the end result is a bit of a compromise after testing with the GPS showed the speedo was out by 10%. Trip to ford for a parameter adustment an I got the dif sized from 3.45 to 3.43 (3.23 not available for some reason) and PPM changed from 770 to 830 (one extreme to the other). Now the speedo is within 5% and the Crusie works just fine.
