I have a 05 BA xr6 MKII with 115 000kms on the clock, SS bigmouth induction kit and rear muffler cut out and a hot dog one put in. I'm wanting more power plus a bit more fuel economy as im currently getting 15.8kms per 100. I've heard that performance tunes could help with both.

Im wanting to know how much i'd be looking at to get one done, how many kw i would gain and where abouts. I live in melbourne's east.

Simple mate before u get ur custom tune u should put some headers on n also a full exhaust, a hot dog!!!
Come on man they belong on little 4 cylinders.
Read my mods below'
To get more power n fuel economy u should do more mods.
But it's not essential
U can gain about 15 rwkw n heaps of torque n also better fuel economy from a custom tune.
Yours a 4 speed??

I think you are thinking of a cannon. The first muffler (closest to cat) below is a hot dog.

But yes, OP should get full exhaust done before getting a tune.

yea its a 4 speed. how much are headers and full exhaust then? I want to spend as little as possible. the car get driven about 2 times a month so atm dont see much point spending big dollars when it dont get driven regularly.

And as for the hot dog.....cost me $60 and the sound could sound nicer but its not too bad. Only put a hot dog in as the rear muffler had rusted and cheaper to put hot dog than another genuine muffler

Ok cool.
Well it all depends on the brand and if u get second hand or new.
My 4490 pacey headers where 400ish.
Then the full 2.5 cat back ect was 8-900, brand new.
Cost me like 1650 installed.
So it's up to you. You could pick up a good second hand system for about 800.
Don't get redback brand.
There is heaps of second hand exhaust parts on eBay.
Have a good look around.
Do you have 2 cars or something?

Haha still ragging on redback :P

Nothing wrong with them. They're better than lukey and hurricane when it comes to giving a no drone exhaust note. But then again, each to their own. Also, you paid $1600 for a full exhaust installed :S You got ripped tbh. Should not of paid anymore than $1300, and that's if they supplied all parts!

@ OP.

If you're only driving the car 2 times per month, don't bother tuning... for $1500 and to not drive it is a complete waste. If you drive the car a lot, I suggest getting a few more mods first. 15.8l/100km and driving 2x per month, you really can't be busting your pocket on fuel. Get an underdrive pulley kit from tuffcarparts, be about $300. Get a full exhaust system with pacemaker 4495's, shouldn't be anymore than $1300 installed. You've got the bigmouth from SS Inductions. It's good, but the airbox will still restrict some airflow. Maybe think about the growler kit, but they're $450. Once you've got some more supporting mods, then get a tune. You will get about 175-185rwkw, depending on tuner and condition of your car.
