ok, general concensis seems to be not with an ef ecu, must be el. not if the car doesn't have smartlock.
if i was to replace an ed ecu with an el, all i do is run the wires to the injectors, tps, map sensor, and bbm runners? i was under the impression the plug was different and the pins where in different locations. other then that, it sounds like you bodge the stuff in to the engine bay replacing a few fittings here and there, wire and go. and is anyone working on a tech doco?

hi
its fairly straight forward.. the el ecu will plug straight into the ed loom and in the engine bay you can use the ed loom you need to extend the tps and isc wires.. you will need to run 2 wires from the ecu for the bbm switch and 2 wires if you want to use the knock sensor.. this is my conversion hope this helps....... http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=40806 |

beauty. with the knock sensor its not required, but theres a hole to mount it in the block? and if i didn't run one the ecu will still be ok?

Yea it should be ok ..
when i did mine i didnt have the knock sensor fitted but i had a few pinging issues apparently because of the higher compression of the au engine.. the ecu will work fine without it but to get the most out of you timing you can fit it... that way you can advance the timing a few more deg and you will get a bit more response out of it.. and if you get s**t fuel the ecu will adjust the timing back to try stop pinging... |
