Is there an easy way to change the 3800rpm switch over point on the BBM other than through the ECU. Thing is with the current set up Iv'e got with a Rspec 1 RPD cam, when the BBM changes over the power really comes on, Iv'e cable tied the BBM vacum switch in the short (high RPM) position and the noticable power increase at 3800rpm has mellowed out, still got good power but have obviously lost low end power, if I could lower the switch over point I think I would get a more useable broader spread of power.

get an rpm switch (from jaycar)
3800 is the optimal swichpoint for getting the most power to the ground though, even after swiching cams.

would be interesting to see someone dyno their car with the BBM normal, stuck on long runner and stuck on short runners to see the power difference.

blue lines torque - red lines power long runners have more torque early but dies off after 4000rpm. short runners make more torque/power later in rpm range.

im guessing red for open fly, blue for closed, cause your not gonna get max power with a long runner.

sorry the graph is messy - just added some labels and small description. Hopefully you can make sense of it...
basically long runners are good for <4000rpm and short runners are better >4000. having the switch point slightly sooner means everything is sorted out by 4000rpm where the short runners start making the power.

Hey guys, would a BBM manifold fitted to my ED XR6 run normally if it was in open long runner position???All the time..Would there be any noticable performance increase whilst driving or would it be useless..With no rpm switch fitted and just my standard ED XR6 computer.

Yeah Iv'e seen your graph before stockstandard and heard that 3800rpm is optimal for the switch over point, but there is such a big jump in power at the switch over point I cant help but think a lower switch over point would take more advantage of this power. For example when my auto changes gear at wot it drops back to about 3500 rpm and takes a second or two to get back into the meat of the power at 3800/4000rpm. But with the BBM switch cable tied in the short runner position, the auto changes back to 3500rpm and is still in the meat of the power band, the problem with this is you loose low end power by not using the long runners.

Sorry stockstandard, forgot to ask about the rpm switch, can the ECU be tricked by using a switch or will it overide the signal. Dont know a lot about the electrical side of things.
