Also will a NF Fairlane BEM work?

not into your car without a loom change. The low and mid series (GLI / Futura / XR) have a two plug BEM. The high series (Fairmont / Fairlane / LTD) have a three plug BEM.

So is it worth upgrading then...

why - what doesn't the low or mid series ones do that you need ?

yeah, the answer isn't a yes and no.. It will all depend on why you want it. If you just want it for bragging rights, then its not worth it. If you need it for a fairlane interior conversion, it might be worth it, but there's always ways around.
The above is all assuming you need to change the loom, which seems like you do.

Cheers

Only like I would really use it for is electric arieal...

you don't need to upgrade the BEM for an elec aerial. There is an adaptor Ford made to use a Fully Auto aerial on a low/mid series BEM. It only has full height or no height but I had it for years and worked fine for me!

And idea might be, in the EB's/ED's, they use electrical aerials without a BEM... They have a switch on the dash.. maybe use that instead?

Cheers

Don't think so - the wiring diagram shows the setup to still go through the central controller (predecessor to the EF/EL BEM)and have a full & half height switch like the EF/EL's.

I take it this is just a plugin loom to the antenna plug that bypasses the BEM and simply reverses polarity for raise/lower ??

Is it possible for me to run a Ford electric areail to a Ford areail button without upgrading my BEM?

Yes it is possible - but you need to use a DPDT switch (with 3 positions) or a power window switch as your aerial control - I've nearly finished a doco on all of this - give me another week or so.

My wagon runs a ford aerial - I use the passenger P/window switch as the control, but a have a tiny toggle switch in the C/console glovebox that directs power to that switch either for the window or the aerial.

If this doesn't make sense - wait for the doco . . . . :P

yeah Ray I'm not sure on what it does... If you turn the low series factory radio on it raises the aeiral to full height. Turn it off it lowers it. Funnily enough if you select tape it also lowers it fully as well.

I'll take the little loom plug that it came with out and sell it if anyone is interested...
