Hey fellas,
So in an attempt to remove the unremovable fuel filter on my ef xr8, I have slightly kinked the fuel line. My question to you guys is, is this likely to lead to the engine not getting enough fuel? If so what are the symptoms? And are sections of fuel line replaceable? I appreciate the knowledge and help on this one. |

Hey man,
I only ever use the parrot nose vise grips for the E series fuel filters... If you do them up tight it's impossible to squash the nut for round it off... Not something to want to destroy... "Slightly kinked" would be better described with a photo? And would help say yay or nay as to it having an effect... If it is it'll cause excess pressure on the pump and burn it out quicker as well lacking fuel to the engine, but without seeing it it's hard to comment... Sections are replaceable... Drill out the rivets holding the clamps and find a car with good lines and do the same thing and re pop rivet it back under the clamps... fiddly, but not hard... Cheers, Tim

Thanks Tim,
I will post a photo when I can, probably tomorrow. I Took the car for a drive and I couldn't tell whether It's made any impact. Would it be spluttering under load? Cheers |

You'd think when you trod on it and the manifold vac dropped the fuel squirted out with more pressure behind it, a kink would cause it to be lacking then... The fuel reg is hook to manifold vac... less vac indicates more juice... So if it goes good then and doesn't feel like it's starving i'd say you'd be right...
Cheers, Tim

Man tiny photo...
Looks more slightly distorted and squashed than kinked? I doubt that'll have any effect at all... Just like the pipe ends up when you straighten an old bend out of it for re use else where... Cheers, Tim

One more question, are the sections either side of the fuel filter engine specific?
What I mean is can I use a six cylinder section on my v8 ef? Thanks |

It'd be short of long wheel base specific...
Um... only other thing would be where the lines poke up into the engine bay... If the poke up much the same where the rubber hoses fit on then yeah... No worries... Cheers, Tim
