I'm looking for something that will give my engine a good tune and support an upgraded cam. I'm not looking to spend $1000 just yet, I'm only want something for a year or 2 year will ensure my engine is running as best it can with an upgraded cam.
I dont know a hell of alot about chips and the like but I'm keen to learn and just need some advice on some of the best chips for the job. Also, are the 'cheaper' chips tunable by me? and are they fairly easy to understand (like understanding the tuning)?

Wade 997b cam..............$135 plus shims....new $60 or $5 from wreckers
Crow XR6 springs............$120 4.11 LSD diff...................$1200 Used ChipTorque Chip.......<$300 or $600 new Custom Tune...................$400 or $100 base tune Assuming the motor is healthy & has good compression, and have already upgraded the Intake & exhaust....... these mods should see nice results for under $2300 {USERNAME} wrote: I'm not looking to spend $1000 just yet...

If you can make it to the gold coast headoffice, they do good work. Ive had a tune done there twice, and both times left there happy. for me they fixed idle problems, fixed AFR's, and rev hang issues, plus increased the torque.
For people in other states, the "eliminator" chip seems to be popular with tuners, but its all the same s**t, different smell. The J3 plug in chips are at the cheap end of the scale and are sufficient for what they do. |

base tune is info they get from you on the cam type, gearbox, any mods etc. and they find a custom tune that theyve done for someone else with similar mods and flash it onto your chip. Easy for them, and will make your cam work with your combo, but nothing beats having your car rolling on their dyno and tuning it with trial & error. |

how do the 4.11 diffs fair out? they pretty rare or you can stumble across them easily at say a ford wrecker? what they like on the highway? they absolutly not a highway diff? like i might do a few highway trips a few times a year, what type of milage ya rerckon you'd get? apparently with the current diff the EF gets the brissy (like 400km from here) is about 1/4 - 1/3 of a tank? (serious highway warrior atm, prob a 3.08)

2500rpm's @ 100kph
Mileage hardly affected..... ive got 3.7's behind my manual, which results in similar gearing to an auto with 4.11's and i still get 9L per 100km's on the highway |
