because most taxi places buy second hand police/ex emergency services vehicles and these arent usually on gas to begin with. so they convert them. And, most people want the flexibility of being able to run dual fuel as LPG is not available everywhere!

lpg reliability is not all that flash unless preventative maintenance is done. and what happens if you run out of lpg, tow truck no other option. this is very important for cabs couriers or private fleets, they don't want to be stuck because the converter s**t it self or the like. on petrol you can atleast get the car started and continue to a meac/home even if the car is running on 5 cylinders. we have had this happen on the au2 taxi with a spark plug dieing after only 20,000 kms, dad drove on petrol for about 15km to get it home so we could fix it.

spot on there, tho i have never had a problem with my lpg setup, I wouldnt want to be driving out to barcaldine and find out there is no lpg available *DOH AND DOOOOH*

I wonder if the cars that failed did so immediately, or if the problem took a while to occur. There may be cars running which are about to shut down.

a lot of cuttin an soldering is required to do a gas install so i belive its something else. quite simply spark voltage/resistance cannot travel to the auto ecu. we had a ZF employee at work an he was an expert on the things hes from germany livin over here for a few years to manage the project. they are a very expensive complicated bit of gear

Anybody can help me out?
So I just installed an LPG system for my Rover 75 2.5 V6 Automatic and few days later the gearbox started acting strange. So I took it back to the installer and he said that he only did some alterations in the cooling system of the gearbox and that the problem is that the clutch is slipping and he has nothing to do with this problem. After reading the above post, I am not believing the mechanic. I also wanted to add that the cooling fan was turning on soon after I start the car. Thanks in Advance for anybody that can advise me. Ivan Ivan, Being blunt here, but you're in the wrong place. A Rover 75 doesn't have a ZF box at all (it's a Getrag).
