Hey lads, ive got a problem. Ok when the brakes are on the brake lights wont light up, with all the lights turned on the parklights work but the brakes still wont light up, I think its the stop light switch as this has gone in it before, where is the stop light switch and is it hard to replace?

they cost about 10 bux from repco, and take about 3 minutes to install...
Get under the dash and observe how its put in, and or get used to taking photos before removal!

Yes they do fail and fail regularly, some last a few months others seem to last for years.

How does the switch work? Looking at it, its just a small box attached to the brake pedal with the 2 wires coming out of it going back to the tail lights, does it have a sensor in it to detect when ever pressure is applyed to the pedal or somthing does it?

the switch is in between the padal and , i think its the booster rod , there is a plate and a spring in between that, when you press your brake pedal, the plate pushes the spring on the switch, and sets off the brakes, so what happens in time , that plate bends and becomes loose, thats why the break fails, with the cheaper switches the plate is not as thick,, thats why they don't last as long,, well thats my opinion anyway
