On my EL Falcon, underneath the fuel cap it is missing the "Fuel filler restrictor" (the small spring loaded flap the pushes open when you put fuel in your car)
as you can see in the photo below, I am missing the flap and the spring I am wondering if anybody else has experienced this? I know there is supposed to be a spring loaded flap there (you can see where it is missing, and my other EL has one) It has been like this since I have owned the car, but I am unsure of how this would just break off? and where would the flap and the spring end up? I don't know a whole lot about the design of the fuel tanks in the EL falcons so im not sure if it would be stuck somewhere in the filler neck of the tank or would it have ended up in the tank itself? or if it would cause any problems? One thing I have noticed when pumping fuel is that I more often than not have to pump the fuel slowly so that the bowser doesn't shut off and I am wondering if perhaps the spring and flap are caught somewhere causing fuel to come back up the filler neck and shut the bowser off? |

Its overrated. As mentioned, it would reside in the bottom of your tank.

Mine's been missing ever since I bought the car 6 years ago. Problem with mine, I think it's stuck half way down the pipe so when fueling up I can't hold the trigger fully open, or else it just froths back out.

Nope When my fuel pump died in this car, i replaced the entire tank anyway (its a full tank lowering situation) and replaced with one i bought off ebay. My outer black rim was damaged and hence evaporation (was summer) its ok to leave it, but of course best to replace it do you mean the el or the vx? in the el the fuel pump can be replaced in the car from the boot lol
