Sounds like the IAT sensor mod. It's a $12 resistor.
I wouldn't even bother fitting it... |

Yep those ebay type chips (as said they are actually just resistors) do not help. The are designed to make the EEC think the engine is running cooler than it is so it adds more timing, which on some cars does help a tiny bit. But on the falcons the EEC doesn't really pull any timing until the engine gets REALLY hot, and if you ever get to those temps you need the timing to be pulled to stop damage. IMO just throw it away, it has a chance of causing harm to the engine and won't give you nay benefits.

will see. The thinking behind the chip is pretty good. I did some research and the thinkin seams pretty sound. Will try it and see what happens.

The thinking is ok but as I explained the Ford EEC just doesn't pull timing during normal opperating temps so it won't be of any real use. Plus the whole idea of the timing retard vs engine temp is there for safety reasons. |

the thinking behing it doesn't work at all. it going to make your car run rich as all the time because the eec will think its not at operating temp. and so cold enrichment will never stop. say hello to high feul bills and fauld spark plugs |

Can we stop calling it a chip now ??? By definition a 'chip' is an integrated circuit (IC). What you have here is a little piece of carbon in a ceramic case. Nothing but a resistor.

plus after a while the adaptions of the engine will bring it with in normall specs again so that extra what 5 hp or so will go. and the extra fule u will be using wont be worth it. and when the engine is cooler the ecu should actually retard timing to help get the cats to warm up. so tricking sensors has never been a good thing to do. u want power get a uni chip or some thing like that.
