I think I've had a few bad batches of fuel lately, my fuel filter was almost completly blocked, raping me of over 17rwkw. Since its been replaced the car goes much better, but its still running lean on the dyno.
I'd like to clean my injectors, as they have probaby never been done in the cars life. I have had some one tell me that if running injector cleaner though you're fuel doesn't fix it, then you need to replace them, as ultrasonic cleaning doens't do anything. Is this the case? I can get the cleaned for $25 each, and flow tested, should I just replace them with new ones? Has any one priced new injectors? Cheers

that stuff you mix with your fuel, the so called injector clean doesn't do s**t, and is no were near as good as having them removed and cleaned!
$25.00 each seems exxy off my head, I thought we were selling new ones at work for like $200.00 for the set (I'm probably wrong - but it's worth getting them priced and that couse if it's only a bit more for brand new ones over cleaning them then why not?). |

$25 is the normal price to clean AN injector. IF the set is $200 then may as well buy a set.
Ultrasonic cleaning is far more effective than an additive |

If anyone knows the price of a set of new ones then I'd love to know. I didn't think that fuel additive did s**t. I'm sceptical of any additive for a car, be it fuel or oil.

Most auto stores will be open at 8 tomorrow morning and can get there phone numbers off whitepages.com.au but as i said for some reason $200.00 seems right to me, I dunno why, but I know I did look them up when I did mine... |

Maybe also try getting a higher pressure fuel regulator.

To try to force the dirt out?? It will cause the car to run rich and effect performance |

No, if you go and read wha he said - he says he's running lean.
Perhaps the injectors are maxing out, he does have a big mofo cam! |

Perhaps the injectors are maxing out, he does have a big mofo cam! Sorry, Would an xr6 regulator (300kpa) be ideal? if so I might be interested in swapping the xr6 one of mine for a stockie depending on the changeover |

prssure regulators are a band aid fix. The ECU will 'learn' it and change its tune, and I'll be back where I started.
This is entirely from what I've read and been told. I'm by no means an ECU expert. I think a clean or replacement would be a good start, as they have probably never been cleaned, and an almost completly blocked fuel filter probably means that some s**t has got through. This along with 100,000km (pre me) of running crap fuel. If a set of new injectors is $200 and it will cost me $150 to clean them, then I'll most likely go new. This is what I mean about lean. Power figures removed, thats not the point.

If it's the ECU that is causing the problem, then yes they are a band aid fix.
However you might be running your injectors at a very high duty cycle, perhaps even maxing them out. Ford thought it wise to install a high-pressure one for the XR6, and mate your pushing a much bigger cam then that. I'd at least check out that theory, I'd say it could easily be done with a decent multimeter. |

jaycar have a kit that displays you duty cycle for your injectors, if your any good at soldering then it might be worth a look

Blu Falc.. I'm a techie, not a problem with a soldering iron.. How reliable/acurate are these kits?
I might need to go the Mega Squirt route sooner rather than later

Very interesting, might check this out myself |

if your duty cycle is maxxed out you need to buy higher capacity fuel injectors, theres a mathematical rule which transfers how much kw your car is putting out to how much fuel your system need to be able to deliver, so u may even need a higher capacity fuel pump to fix your problem.
