Well as some people know that buses run on CNG but can our fords run on CNG?
If they could we could screw the oil companies but the only prob is filling up as not many servo's have CNG

CNG would most probably run fine using the lpg setup but altering the amount of gas flow to suit the engine.

Now, if you had a pump setup, you could fill up at home from your natural gas system, If you were issued a fuel dispensing license from the goverment, and paid the tax associated that the government would slap on.

a few years back i remember liverpool council in sydney running CNG in AUII Falcons, theres a servo on heathcote road just on the liverpool side of the M5 overpass that sells it..

If you want your Ford to go fast or far forget it.

CNG needs very high compression to make it worth while, even higher than LPG.

And CNG does not liquify in the tank, its pressurized gas at 20,000 Kpa, so no, you cannot use your LPG gear, CNG gear is purpose built. (Different regulator, steel service line, etc etc)

You also need a different fitters license to install or work on the gear, LPG licensees are not allowed to fit CNG.

The pressurized gas part is what gives you crap range, and if you want to fill at home it takes all night, and you need a CNG compressor which I have heard is around the $6000 mark.

I agree with mikejh, I have a CNG mechanics licence (ex NSW STA) and I have never fitted a system since doing the course around 14yrs ago, probably never will either

On a different note, from my bad memory CNG can be liquefied if it is cooled below -150c, Aplin coal mine down near Picton was experimenting using liquefied CNG in their trucks etc, unlike LPG you can compress CNG until the cows come home and it will not liquefy.
